Nordson SonoFlex Acoustic System Wins
2026 Best of West Award
The SonoFlex Acoustic System from
Nordson Test & Inspection
has won the 2026 Best
of West award, SEMI
and Semiconductor
Digest announced today.
The automated acoustic
inspection tool, which
made its global debut
at SEMICON West, was
chosen for the speed,
sensitivity and modularity
it brings to inspecting
small panel-based
assemblies, an increasingly
important format as advanced packaging moves from wafers
to panels. Nordson is at
booth #5844.

NVIDIA Pushes Toward the “AI-Defined Fab”
“The semiconductor industry made the AI revolution
possible. Now, AI is transforming how chips are built,”
said Tim Costa, vice president and general manager of
industrial and computational engineering at NVIDIA,
as the company announced at SEMICON West on
Wednesday that chipmakers, equipment suppliers and
EDA companies are adopting its CUDA-X libraries and
AI tools to build what it calls AI-defined fabs.
In an AI-defined fab, accelerated simulation, AI
physics models, AI agents and digital twins are
connected into engineering workflows across the
factory, Costa said in a pre-briefing. Models predict
behavior, agents gather evidence and call trusted
engineering tools, and digital twins let teams evaluate
changes in physical context before anything reaches the
floor. “Engineers, of course, still validate the evidence
and decide what reaches production,” he said.
The push is driven by demand. Costa cited Gartner’s
updated forecast of $1.56 trillion in semiconductor
revenue in 2026, years ahead of earlier Continued on page 3
